'FACES OF THE FRONT LINE'

I COMMISSIONED BY SELFRIDGES TO DESIGN AND PAINT THEIR SCULPTURE FOR GRATITUDE, AN EXHIBITION CREATED BY WILD IN ART.

I have always had a deep gratitude for the NHS especially after my cancer diagnosis which is why I was honoured and excited to be able to paint a sculpture for this exhibition. Spending months as an in patient I got to see first hand how important every single member of staff are. From the trainee doctors learning to call the shots to nurses who you spend more time with that your friends to the cleaner who you get to know because they come everyday at the same time everyday to clean your room, to the kitchen staff bringing you tea and toast in the morning to the social workers who know how to calm you down by saying they can fill the forms in for you. Every single member of staff impacts your life when your in the hospital and over the past year these staff have been touching and helping more people than ever. This exhibition is a small way in which we can say thank you to those people.

'My sculpture is a representation and celebration of the diverse range of individuals that have helped hold the country together over the past year. The distortion in the faces represents the idea that nobody’s journey is perfect. These imperfections illustrate the collective highs and lows that we have all experienced and how it can be a way to unite us.'
